Honorable Mention.

As we celebrate President Obama's Re-election, and the election of the MOST WOMEN voted into Senate, to-date - I'd like to give Honorable Mention to former Congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.
Chisholm served NY's 12th Congressional District for 7 terms, from 1969 - 1983.

In 1968, Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm, became the FIRST African American Woman elected into Congress.

In 1972, she became the FIRST major BLACK Candidate AND WOMAN to run for the Democratic Presidential VOTE! Chisholm lived to be 80 years of age, having died January 1st, 2005.

Thank you Shirley Chisholm, we salute you.
